Wat about the temples?

We woke up at 5 in the morning to find our tuk tuk driver for the day waiting for us in the reception. Off to the temples!

Angkor Wat in sunrise.

Apsaras (women goddesses) were portrayed all around the temples.
Sun comes up behind the temple

Inside Angkor Wat.

Cambodian countryside on our way to a temple 37 km away from the rest of the temples. The ride alone was a total experience!

Piece of decoration from what is called "the womens temple". It is believed that the temple is decorated by women because the carvings are so delicate.

My favourite crazy looking character, carved on every doorway.

It is hard to see from the picture, but there were very few areas that didn't have any decoration on it.

Beautifully located!

Hut on sticks. Rainy season means a lot of the land is turned into swamp, even your back yard.

Another temple, a lot of stairs.

View of a stone lion.

Got a good bit of exercise that day, climbing up and down the wats. And no, I did not do it barefoot, I did it in my Ben&Jerry's thongs (swe: flipflops).

Emelie posing in the doorway of the "Angelina Jolie-temple". Part of the movie Tomb Raider was filmed there.

Big fat centipede!

Someone has a little gardening to catch up on.

Me, enjoying the cool shade on top of a wat.

Em climbing down. It was usually a little bit tricky getting down compared to getting up...

We saw 7 wats altogether, but drove by a few others. This one had really cool big stone faces. One stair down in a somewhat secluded part of the wat we caught some temple guards smoking pot. I guess they tried to "get stoned". Hahaha...

Smile!

Apsara.

Back in Siem Reap and the tuk tuk driver has to wait out some kids playing in the floods in the street crossing.
